We read the story How the kiwi lost his wings and made the forest that no other bird wanted to look after. This is how we made them. We painted half of a page green and the other half brown. We had to paint both sides. This was done to 5 pieces of paper. Mrs Millward showed us how to roll the paper and add a new sheet of paper half way through. Then we cut the top into strips and made it curly. The last part was to pull the inside out to make our tall forest trees.

We are learning all about myths and legends. In maths we decided to use all the things we know to make wings just like in the story Icarus and the sun. We watched a movie and listened to the story. Then we had to think about how we could measure, the shapes we know and what half is to make the wings. To decorate we used a pattern with colours and had to remember that the one wing should look the same as the other.
It was fun making our Icarus wings.
